
Marbles Square are the perfect dessert to make when you have a large crowd. I used to make these all the time for family festivities. For some reason, the recipe had taken a back seat to some other desserts. But I brought it back recently much to the joy of my family.
This is perfect for bbqs and pool parties. The swirly cream cheese topping pairs just right with the chocolate cake situation. I hope you enjoy this recipe.
Marble Squares

Ingredients
1/2 cup margarine
3/4 cup water
1 1/2 1-ounce squares unsweetened chocolate
2 cups flour
2 cups sugar
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
2 eggs, beaten
1/2 cup sour cream
- For the topping
1 8 oz. package Philadelphia brand cream cheese, softened
1/3 cup sugar
1 egg
6 ounces semi-sweet chocolate chips
Directions
- Combine margarine, water and chocolate in a saucepan; bring to a boil. Remove from heat. Cool slightly


- Combine flour, sugar, baking soda and salt in a large bowl. Stir in chocolate mixture.



- Add eggs and sour cream. Mix well with a rubber spatula.


- Pour into a greased and floured 15 by 10 by 1 inch jelly roll pan. (The Jersey Girl uses a Pyrex.)

- Cream cheese topping
- Combine cream cheese and sugar. mixing until well blended. Blend in egg.


- Spoon over chocolate batter. Cut through batter with knife several times for marble effect. Sprinkle with chocolate chips.



- Bake at 375 degrees Fahrenheit for 25 to 30 minutes or until wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean. Once cooled, cut into squares. Makes approximately 2 dozen.
